Beazer Breaks Ground on Largest Zero Energy Ready Home Community in the United States
ATLANTA – November 26, 2024 - Beazer Homes broke ground on the site of their newest community, GreenHouse, on November 20 in Marietta, Ga. The Atlanta-based national builder is known as a leader in energy efficient construction, committing to building 100% of its homes to the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready HomeTM standards by the end of 2025.
GreenHouse will include 591 homesites south of Barrett Parkway between Bells Ferry Road and I-575, making it the largest community in the U.S. to offer homes certified as Zero Energy Ready. It also represents the largest development in Cobb County in more than a decade.
“It is a neighborhood that speaks to our commitment to sustainability, while respecting and honoring the history of the family who called it home,” said Kyle Lyne, division president of Beazer Homes Atlanta.
The groundbreaking ceremony included remarks from Beazer Homes CEO Allan Merrill and City of Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin. Beazer Homes unveiled plans for the community, including miles of trails, parks and gardens woven through the neighborhood streets and amenities.
“Besides being the biggest, it’s also the best,” said Tumlin. He remarked on the “transformative” nature of the project, which will significantly add to the city’s housing supply. “I thank each and every one of you who is going to have a hand in making this wonderful community.”
GreenHouse will offer townhomes, ranch-style and two-story homes. Every home will be certified as a Zero Energy Ready Home. This certification represents a superior level of construction that is well ahead of industry standards, exceeding all local construction and energy codes.
“Our team is very thoughtful about our impact to customers and our communities, and a big part of that is doing things that others can’t or won’t do,” said Merrill. “That means building homes to a higher standard than anything that is required in the city or in the state. These homes are more durable, more comfortable, cost less to operate, and they reflect the value we place on being good stewards.”
Attendees of the groundbreaking included trade partners, city officials and representatives from the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. “It is important to us to thank those who make this project possible,” Lyne said. “With their partnership, we are extending access to the most energy-efficient homes Beazer builds to current and future Marietta residents.”
“The GreenHouse development will blend the natural and built environment by offering miles of trails, pocket parks and gardens,” Lyne said. “Our vision is to create a vibrant, amenity-rich neighborhood experience offering places to gather, play and relax. This groundbreaking takes the next step towards our vision becoming reality.”
With the addition of GreenHouse, Beazer Homes now has 12 communities in various stages of development in metro Atlanta, including actively-selling communities in Atlanta, Cumming, Decatur, Powder Springs, Buford, Acworth, and Canton. Each community offers Zero Energy Ready homes.
